Shortlist
An AI task app that surfaces the two or three things worth starting with, so students always know where to begin.
Shortlist reads the full task list, ranks it by deadline, duration, and learned pattern, and surfaces the two or three tasks worth starting with. Mia picks one and goes.
Trigger: Mia doesn’t know where to start.
Action: she opens Shortlist and taps one of three tasks.
Reward: she didn’t know which tasks would show up.
Investment: every tap teaches the app to rank better.
Users wanted to sync Google Calendar without every event landing in their list. I added a select-all option and individual checkboxes, so they get the speed of sync without the noise.
Users wanted to mark a task complete without logging time, and edit tasks directly inside All Tasks. Both pointed to the same insight: users needed shortcuts and ways out.
Time to first task
How long after opening before the user actually starts. If this doesn’t drop, nothing else matters.
Shortlist completion rate
Of the daily three, how many get done. Tests whether the AI picked the right tasks.
7-day retention
Do users come back after a week. The honest test of whether it became a habit.
Shortlist doesn’t remove the work. It removes the moment of not knowing where to begin, which was the thing standing between Mia and starting.
